What We're Doing

Point Sample has developed a web application for nonprofits who need a fresh approach to their most common fundraising challenges: donor fatigue, funding cuts and perhaps most significant, the need to engage younger constituents.

As the mature donor population shrinks, successful nonprofits know they must reach out and develop lasting relationships with younger generations. As digital natives, members of Generations X and Y feel completely at ease when communicating with friends and family via social media, have high expectations of their online experiences, and get excited about new technologies. At the same time, an increase in online giving and social engagement proves the online channel has one of the highest levels of measurable ROI.

Founded in 2012, Point Sample is a creative company with an innovative vision – combining technology and art to stimulate long-term nonprofit fundraising success.

How We're Doing It

It all starts when Point Sample divides a nonprofit’s fundraising image (for example, the tiger photo used by the World Wildlife Fund’s Save the Tiger campaign) into little squares called Pixel Gifts™. Each Pixel Gift represents one monetary donation. Combined, the individual Pixel Gifts make up the nonprofit’s campaign image, and by sponsoring individual Pixel Gifts within an image, the donor community unites - both financially and visually - in support of a common cause.

By seeing the tangible representation of their donation as part of a larger picture, donors feel an emotional, lasting connection to both the nonprofit and the common giving community. This is the digital version of the buy-a-brick fundraising concept, popular in the US.

Point Sample is a completely new web application that transforms the “Donate Now” button from a dull transactional event to a fun and personal giving experience.
